Reminds me of the first huge waves of layoffs of top earning auto manufacturing workers when robotic machines took over painting and placement of doors and hoods and so on. Then more and more jobs were lost to more and more machines.
Workers said “Let the company lay us off and the robots can make the cars but we’ll all be broke so sell the cars to the robots and have them drive them.”
When “self driving” or “autonomous” vehicles started I remembered that sad and desperate statement.
I can just picture the robot wars of the future. Both sides spend billions of dollars producing very high tech machinery that goes out and reduces itself to scrap.
Unfortunately there would probably be a lot of collateral meat damage too but the financial wreckage would be incredible.
