Beijing will pay Havana several billion dollars for eavesdropping facility

China and Cuba have reached a secret agreement for China to establish an electronic eavesdropping facility on the island, in a brash new geopolitical challenge by Beijing to the U.S., according to U.S. officials familiar with highly classified intelligence.

An eavesdropping facility in Cuba, roughly 100 miles from Florida, would allow Chinese intelligence services to scoop up electronic communications throughout the southeastern U.S., where many military bases are located, and monitor U.S. ship traffic.

“While I cannot speak to this specific report, we are well aware of—and have spoken many times to—the People’s Republic of China’s efforts to invest in infrastructure around the world that may have military purposes, including in this hemisphere,” John Kirby, spokesman for the National Security Council, said.

Heck, we’ve got their best buddy “running” the country. Why do they need to worry about going through Cuba?

They must be unsure of the coming election results.

Cuban-Chinese cooperation should only surprise those who believe that China is not designing with the cooperation of Russia, Marxist nations like Cuba, and radical Islamist regimes to topple American and Western hegemony. Many, myself included, are disgusted at the rampant decadence and anti-freedom attitudes of the Western ruling classes and governments. However, China and its allies are still targeting the effective end of U.S. power.

Don’t worry, we’re the good guys. We don’t do any spying like this. If only all other nations were as upstanding and honorable as the USA.

Presently, internally, China is falling apart. Or perhaps more correctly, is being internally destroyed to restore a pure form of socialism desried by Chairman Xi.

Having his hands full at home, Xi can not support consequential ventures abroad. Spies in Cuba are of less alue than the spies actually in the USA.

I'm surprised Biden hasn't offered to let them build it in suburban D.C.

FWIW there are already reports of a shared China/Russia/Cuba station/camp/base in Mexico.

U.S. adversaries need only watch passively as long as Brandon is actively working to destroy our nation from within.

Interesting info, although not entirely surprising.

A secret agreement that’s posted in a major newspaper in the United States. Sounds legit

Funny the timing, NATO finally crept up onto Russia’s borders, sparking a war…..it will be interesting to see how the US reacts now that the tables have been turned…. I started calling Senile Joe “ Boomerang “ Joe awhile back….any country with just an ounce of brains seems to be outsmarting him.

Carry on War Cheerleaders, you have picked one heck of a leader!

That’s right. There’s NO difference between the U.S. and China. Like there’s no difference between parents monitoring their kid’s web browsing & chats and a pedophile monitoring your kid. It’s the same thing.

Not good news.

I’m surprised Russia hasn’t reopened their old bases on Cuba.

It’s amazing how history repeats itself. Instead of a missile crisis it will be a balloon crisis. Thanks Barry for opening up relations with this dictatorial regime and throwing it a lifeline.

“sigint: signals intelligence, monitoring emails, phones, and satellite transmissions.”

Then we need sigsec: Signal security, blowing the holy hell out of that spy base.

From what I’ve read over the last few months Chinese Telecom firms have a firm grip on our communications already.

It’s really mind boggling, as I have been totally lost since we first started our massively buying Chinese products and moving our manufacturing there. Just why would we be supporting a sworn communist enemy of ours? Why would be be giving them profits to build their military to equal or better ours? Now thanks to the US dollars flooding their country in exchange for cheap goods, they can afford to practically surround us, with this spy base being an example.

The article addresses Russia/Cuba relations. There were reports back in 2014 about Russia re-opening Lourdes station. Looks like China has the Cuba diplomatic advantage these days.
