Beijing Plans a New Training Facility in Cuba, Raising Prospect of Chinese Troops on America’s Doorstep

Biden administration scrambles to forestall China’s ambitions in the Caribbean

WASHINGTON—China and Cuba are negotiating to establish a new joint military training facility on the island, sparking alarm in Washington that it could lead to the stationing of Chinese troops and other security and intelligence operations just 100 miles off Florida’s coast, according to current and former U.S. officials.

Discussions for the facility on Cuba’s northern coast are at an advanced stage but not concluded, U.S. intelligence reports suggest. The Biden administration has contacted Cuban officials to try to forestall the deal, seeking to tap in to what it thinks might be Cuban concerns about ceding sovereignty. Beijing’s effort to establish a military training facility in Cuba hasn’t been previously reported.

The White House declined to comment.

U.S. officials said reference to the proposed new training facility in Cuba is contained in highly classified new U.S. intelligence, which they described as convincing but fragmentary.

Most worrying for the U.S.: The planned facility is part of China’s “Project 141,” an initiative by the People’s Liberation Army to expand its global military base and logistical support network, one current and one former U.S. official said.

This situation is in addition to China/Cuba eavesdropping facilities.

Long article, multiple other sources quote the WSJ.

It’s a logical move by China, the US has weapons and troops in Taiwan, 100 miles from China, why wouldn’t they put troops in Cuba, if for no other reason than to give the middle finger to the USA and Biden.

China feels like they have the upper hand right now, the US Secretary of State begged China to meet with him and then dropped to his knees once he was in China.

Biden and his entire family is on the take from China along with just about every corporation and billionaire.

The only question is why didn’t China do this sooner.

I bet the Chinese are smart enough to know to evenly disperse these troops to prevent Cuba from capsizing. We’re governed (ruled) by morons, many of whom can’t even figure out what gender they are (or whether islands float), while the CCP plays a global game of chess for all the marbles.

Ominous, while not surprising. The Briben Administration has caused irreparable harm to our national security via deliberate open borders and gross incompetence.

The Biden "administration", like the O'Dummy "administration", are mere figureheads. Somebody put them in office, and somebody rules their office.

This was entirely orchestrated.

We have been told the number of Chinese people coming across our Southern Border is rapidly increasing, IMO it’s a certainty that most if not all of them are some type of Chinese Operative, perhaps into intelligence gather, perhaps into sabotage, who knows, in WW II Hitler tried to sneak German Saboteurs into the USA, once they were caught, they were quickly executed, now we welcome them with open arms.

We already have their soldiers in Congress, and they should move to Cuba.

Kids play games.

The war machine called the Department of Defense has had the last three plus decades of such delights as bombing Kosovo through to the worthy leveling of Libya, triumphal exit from Afghanistan, and now the delightful "to the last Ukrainian" war (since negotiations are not an option, it is said), and -- quelle surprise! -- others engage in the games now. It must be disconcerting for the "bug guy" who wants to run all the games these days.

Perhaps the games need be set aside in favor of....

We(the US) may not like it, but that is what we are doing all over the world. I don’t like it, but Cuba can do what it wants
Another example. I don’t like Iran getting nuclear weapons or NK having them, but they are “sovereign “ countries. They can do what they want like we do.

What need a to be expressed and would be my official policy as president is Go ahead but if you use them just once we will end you, have a nice day

As for spy station on Cuba, good for the goose… bad news is air patterns won’t allow them to launch balloons over the US from there 😫

Any American who thinks the Russians should be cool with NATO sitting on the Russian border, a days tank ride from Moscow, while preaching forced regime change, has zero to complain about.

The CCP will co-opt the Gov’t and put Cuba under the boot. With a smile on their faces no doubt. Carry on Maoists! We’re on the schedule too.

My History of China professor was right! And we had the cultural revolution to use as a pure and active reference to observe (albeit highly censored) but the professor knew his subject and was able to accurately access the activities and the ramifications.

And here we are being led by a succession of dumbasses to the trashheap of history, all of which was completely avoidable but not without stomping on the leftist, Marxist abd their sour grapes of wrath within our own borders. Equal rights my arse, we’ve been played!

--- "They can do what they want like we do."

Your words, my man. I agree. They -- oh, so many candidates for who "they" are -- can do what they want "like we do."

That's the odd thing about these sorts of exchanges. "Rules" can be extrapolated. Applying your "rule" to all international conflicts comports nicely with mine, in the case of two non-NATO countries ruled by thugs going at it. As you say, "They can do what they want like we do."

And now courtesy of Blinken's stellar performance in these last days, we know the Biden administration does not support Independence for Taiwan because they "can do what they want like we do."

I also agree with your statement, "my official policy as president is "Go ahead but if you use them just once we will end you, have a nice day."

Though the acronym isn't so popular today, MAD for mutually assured destruction still applies. Not because you or I think it good or bad, but because it simply is. Nukes aplenty all over the place. Tick tock.

Agreed. Lincoln's premonition is proving correct. "From within." Stomping on the American Left is necessary. The crybaby Lefties will complain that the verb "stomp" means violence, while they opt for violence on the streets with antifa and BLM and -- yes -- the IRS and false flag FBI stuff of late.

True, and as terrible as nuclear detonation would be NK and Iran are small players. My point is if these countries use them they will be gone, not MAD they don’t have the capability or capacity.
Russia and China on the other hand realize they have a lot to lose
SNL did a skit on this years ago and still applies today, their version of MAD

"Prospect of Chinese Troops on America’s Doorstep"

It brings to mind the old Texas joke about What Davy Crockett said when he saw the Mexicans storming over the Alamo walls? "I didn't know that we ordered cement for today!"

Except, now it's Chinese storming over the Rio Grande River: "I didn't know we ordered Chinese take-out for today!".
