Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg delivered a blow to Elon Musk on Wednesday night, as the tech billionaires’ rivalry went live with the launch of Instagram’s much-anticipated Threads platform, a clone of Twitter.
Analysts said investors were salivating over the possibility that Threads’ ties to Instagram might give it a built-in user base and advertising apparatus, which could siphon ad dollars from Twitter as its new CEO tries to revive the microblogging company’s struggling business.
While Threads is launching as a standalone app, screenshots posted on Apple’s App Store showed that users would be able to log in using their Instagram credentials and follow the same accounts, making it an easy addition to existing habits for Instagram’s more than 2 billion monthly active users.
“Investors can’t help but be a little excited about the prospect that Meta really has a ‘Twitter-Killer’ poised to launch on the app store,” said Danni Hewson, head of financial analysis at investment platform firm AJ Bell.
Meta stocks closed up 3% on Wednesday ahead of the launch, outpacing gains by competitor tech companies as the broader market edged down.

Holy who-gives-a chit.
Millions of fake accounts are salivating to go on line as we speak. LOL
Circus and bread. Thank the Rothschilds.
“Threads” was also the name of a British nuclear war film. Apparently the MetaTurds knowledge of history goes back 12 months.
Meta’s (Facebook’s) reputation for censorship will prevent all but the most government centric users from even signing up, so it should be a good way to identify the hard core leftists.
My thought is that Musk’s campaign to stop bots and fake accounts on Twitter is working.
Apparently Meta, Google and other tech firms were exploiting Twitter’s audience for their own purposes.
Musk is shutting those fake voices and competitor intelligence gathering down.
Odds are, the best Zucky can do is create yet another social media platform. My guess he can’t touch Twitter’s dominance in corporate, non-profits, and political advertising.
In fact, people like Tucker Carlson are using Twitter as their launch pad for new media.
It’s being said that the censorship on Zuckerturd’s “Threads” will be as bad or worse that it ever was on Twitter. We shall see.
Thank you for remembering the British “Threads”. That word is ominous because of that. I’ll skip Threads.
Funny how they focus on Instagram rather than Facebook. Maybe it’s true that Facebook is in decline. Thanks to Elon for saving Twitter and making it interesting again!
It has made a small profit in just two of those seventeen years.
Musk had the right idea when he decided to bid for Twitter - fire the thousands of completely useless employees and focus on making money.
Zuckerberg, on the other hand, appears to have learned nothing from his Meta fiasco.
It is quite possible that Zuck could pull away millions of Politically Left Twitter users.
But, how will he monetize that new group of customers?
All of them could have joined Facebook or Instagram years ago, but only some of them did.
“Zuckerberg, on the other hand, appears to have learned nothing from his Meta fiasco.”
He doesn’t need to make money. He has fed money.
But it will be an echo chamber for the Left.
Independent leaning folks and those on the Right are not going to sign up to use Threads due to the censorship imposed by Zuck.
Check and a lot of it now the courts slaps Biden.
My thought is that Musk’s campaign to stop bots and fake accounts on Twitter is working. This twittering twats bullshit has even less relevance on anyone's life than Hunter Biden's arrest.Apparently Meta, Google and other tech firms were exploiting Twitter’s audience for their own purposes.

How did that work out for you?
“He doesn’t need to make money. He has fed money.
But Zuck does need users to feed his psychotic, narcissist ego. I expect Zuck will declare himself king of the Internet and sail off in a meta yacht, never to be seen again.
