That removing of public access signs used to happen north of my area in West Marin County. A little past the city of Dogwood, you’ll find the hidden hamlet of Bolinas, Ca.
Citizens of Bolinas were notorious for snatching down City Signs the day after they were put up. Lots of aged hippy types, artisans or people who enjoyed a small, uncluttered town and wished to be left alone.
Last time I was up there was over 15 years ago.
Maybe the signs stay up now.
