I would argue that even the Reagan haters would admit that he had an overwhelming amount of charisma. He always reminded me of my grandfather.
Desantis is zero on any charisma level. He’s also just really weird.

This is basically what I’ve said all along. And most here have definitely called Biden like Carter all over again, and then some. Which is partly why I was seeing some coincidental connection to the old days.
I don’t know if it’s good for RON to talk about it himself, though.

A tell now is when Reagan gets invoked, especially by people who would have hated him while he was President or would have worked against him covertly (what used to be called Rockefeller Republicans).
The most risible is when Reagan gets invoked to justify US involvement in Ukraine. I guess using the phrase "Jesus would bomb Russia" would be a little too over the top.

"During an interview on Wisconsin’s Mark Belling Show..." I remember when Belling would sub for Rush; he was the one guest host I found unlistenable. He seemed like a nice enough guy, but for me, a total snoozefest.

Well, aside from the height, the genial sense of humor, and the expert command of domestic and foreign affairs, I guess he’s pretty close. :)

Governor DeSantis, with his courage, conviction, ability to think before acting and (save for some justified defensive comments) absence of nasty insults to other GOPers (meaning tact, diplomacy, and acting presidential) is more like President Ronald Reagan than any GOPer since Reagan. And Mister Trump (with foolish whoppers such as he can end the Ukraine war in 24 hours, but won’t say just how), is the least like President Ronald Reagan.

So DeSantis is looking at losing a couple of Republican primaries, just like Reagan.

Reagan was likable, DeSantis not. Besides that the country has become a lot more divided than it was 40 years ago. Reagan even won California twice. George H. W. Bush was the last Republican to win California.
In 1984 Reagan even won Hawaii. No Republican since has won Hawaii.
DeSantis will not become the new Reagan, or even close, because I predict he won't win the primary to become the Republican candidate, at least not legitimately.

Trump took on the Swamp And the military industrial complex. Reagan had a 49 state landslide and could have done a lot more to reduce the size and scope of an ever expanding Federal government. No Reagan was not hated by the Dems like Trump is or by the GOPe for that matter, but Trump has been more bold on exposing what is wrong with our institutions.
DeSantis does not have the personal likability of Reagan or the conviction of Trump. MAGA will never support him because they view him as a backstabbing, disloyal empty suit supported by the GOPe.
