Development of 5 World Trade Center is a go, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced at a press conference Thursday, shortly after a vote by the Public Authorities Control Board.
The skyscraper will add 1,200 apartments to the Financial District, with one third of the new units going to low- and moderate-income New Yorkers as well as 9/11 survivors and first responders.

In five years it will be necessary to tear it down.
Why is Hochul involved?
Just another sign of failure.
Done.
New housing for illegal border jumpers
why new building when so may people left NYC? Oh, so the new arrivals from the border or people Ron ships around can have a nice new place. saw it in AZ yrs ago.
My favorite building in NYC was an apartment building that was required to have something like 25% low-income housing. So they complied with the law, but they also put in a separate entrance (around the corner) and elevator system for the low-income types, effectively sealing off their stench from the people who were paying market prices for their units.
Of course, NYC quickly closed that loophole as the purpose of low-income housing is NOT to house low-income types, but to get them in the FACES of those who work for a living.
Because it is a Port Authority of New York and New Jersey project.
The twin towers should have been rebuilt, but with the sides facing Mecca having big fingers painted on them.
Maybe use the BEB’s (big empty buildings) already in NYC.
“Name changed to ‘Third World Center’.”
Good one. Guess citizens of New York will pay for that expensive land and building and continue helping the occupants financially. A lose-lose proposition.
