ATF ‘Zero Tolerance’ Forces Nearly 2,000 Gun Vendors to Close, Says Lawsuit
Epoch Times ^ | Updated: July 25, 2023 | By Kevin Stocklin

Having failed to pass gun bans to curtail Americans’ purchases of firearms, the Biden administration appears now to be attempting to restrict the supply of guns, with a new “zero tolerance” policy at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) that has put nearly 2,000 gun sellers out of business in the past two years, according to one lawsuit.

Starting in 2021, the ATF implemented an aggressive agenda in its inspections of Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs), in many cases permanently revoking licenses over what defendants say are minor clerical errors.

“This is an end-around gun ban, because you start putting gun dealers out of business and now all of a sudden it’s very difficult for people to purchase firearms,” Erich Pratt, senior vice president of Gun Owners of America (GOA), told The Epoch Times. GOA filed a lawsuit on July 11 against the Biden administration in response to the ATF’s zero-tolerance enforcement.

The GOA lawsuit is requesting that the courts issue an injunction to end the ATF’s zero tolerance policies and “declare that the [ATF] has acted unconstitutionally, arbitrarily, capriciously, and contrary to law, in the establishment of and/or application of standards for revocation of federal firearm licenses.”

Closing an FFL lets the ATF take all the sales records. if you think they're not illegally turning these into a searchable gun registry, you're naive beyond all hope of recovery.

Its multiple reasons.

Its to get the records.

Its to shut down gun stores.

Its to take away one more place people can buy firearms.

Its an under the radar way to disarm people and build a gun owner database.

You are absolutely correct: It’s a backdoor gun registry.

You won’t convince me they don’t save the records from the background checks for all new purchases.

Ah for the good old days before that travesty the 1968 gun control law went into effect.

Interesting we rarely had school shootings back before the 1968 gun control Act became law. Single Political killings, yes but not mass murders.
Guns were more available then as you could get a gun at a gas station, pawn shop, saddle store, hardware store, clothing store, record shop, book store, liquor store, feed store, grocery store. They were everywhere! Cash and carry. No background check, no waiting period, no paperwork. No ID, Just look old enough.
Or you could drop a check in the mail and one would be shipped to your door.
So what has happened since then to cause a change in the morals in the USA where everyone with a gripe has to have his vengeance for past wrongs, most of which are only in his head?
I would blame the mass shootings on closing down the mental institutions in the 1970s. Almost every shooter would have been considered mentally ill and locked up back in the 1960s BEFORE they went on a killing spree.

LBJ began to put pressure on closing gun stores, followed by Jimmy Carter, then Bill Clinton, Obama and Biden. Each one upping the ante and making it tougher to legally buy guns. Yet we still sell over a million a month.

One million gun sales a month for 47 months straight is some heavy voting against the demonicrats.

One minute gun sales are through the roof. The next, oh no. Gun shops closing. A lot of biplolar actions.

No record made by a government entity is ever destroyed. My daughter was arrested for not having auto insurance. She was insurance covered and proved it on the spot but the arrest was made. When the “mmixup” was straightened out she was assured that it was wholly expunged from her “record.” Four years later when she was applying for a job she was confronted with having been arrested and not putting that on her application. Her lawyer got the job done, he said, but it came up again 6 years. later. Any government clerk or official who says that anything entered into your record is expunged is lying to you.

The problem with “expungement” is you have private companies collecting arrest records for background checking, and the expungement either doesn’t make it to them, or they ignore it.
