I don’t find these videos horrifying at all - in fact I love happy ending videos.
Nice of the reporter to point out the officer’s precise shooting.
There’s a certain element among that resists all authority and always shows force against that authority. Simply following an officer’s orders means you will live to see another day.
That big jerk in Ferguson, MO who refused the officer’s orders and then lunged for his gun in his squad car is a prime example.

She didn’t have much choice. The bad guy was at the front wheel of the small car, the officer at the rear wheel. Probably no more than 10-12 feet and quickly advancing. The biggest risk of shooting was over-penetration, which is significantly reduced with the ammo most LEO use.

The Cop is lucky she did not hit the child behind the assailant. I saw that her partner had a gun out too. The man was going to get shot by one of them.
The most reasonable choice was to fire on the man who was attacking them. He was a credible and immediate threat to the woman even if he had been unarmed. And he did his best to appear armed.
It does not ever pay to fight with Cops.
Cop was a good shot.
