McCarthy to endorse Biden impeachment inquiry, setting up possible vote
The Hill ^ | 09/12/2023 | MYCHAEL SCHNELL

Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) will endorse an impeachment inquiry into President Biden this week, a source familiar confirmed to The Hill, setting the scene for a formal vote in the chamber — even though it remains unclear that there is enough support to launch a formal investigation.

McCarthy intends to tell Republican lawmakers that House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) and House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) have found enough information to back up the need for a formal impeachment inquiry, the source said.

He will also argue that the launching for a formal inquiry will aid in their effort to try and get a hold of bank records and documents related to the Biden family.

Any house GOP member opposed to using this as leverage for additional fact finding should be denounced.

The GOP is always so timid, afraid of backlash or making Biden more popular. Believe me, nothing will make Biden a more sympathetic figure, he's already there. He's a demented old fool that craps in his pants and eats ice cream and mumbles, believe me, people feel sad for the man and just wish he would leave. I suspect the Dem party will rejoice if this pushes him out.

If he doesn't move forward on this, it will be the end of McCarthy's Speakership.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) will endorse an impeachment inquiry into President Biden<

The party of talk, and no action.

Meanwhile, Biden sleeps like a baby every night (and day).

A 'possible vote on impeachment'.

When - after McCarthy loses us the majority?

“anything to do with Gaetz’ statement yesterday?”

Exactly!

Those who were quick to criticize Gaetz yesterday because he had the backbone to threaten to call a vote to vacate the Speakers seat, need to give Gaetz props for forcing McCarthy to FINALLY place a vote for bidens impeachment inquiry.

He doesn’t need a vote, just launch the inquiry. What he is hoping for is that several republicans will vote against it, that way he can say “I held a vote, and it was voted down.” Then he’ll use that downvote to bring an end to any investigation into the Biden crime family, so he can be seen as a hero by the dems and their “republican” allies.

If he's not going to get the votes....it will be just an embarrassment for the party. Stop blaming McCarthy for everything. And who would be better than McCarthy?

Gaetz is an antagonist...it's what he does.

The mumbles in vietnam speech was enough for both parties to say, lets see how Harris does for 14 months.

The reality that without a major event trump is taking the swing states. The american people on either side did not buy the incitements.

Yep, could be. With the added benefit that they would have a primary and boot Kamala for 2024.

What good is it to do this, if they don’t have the majority of votes in the House AND in the U.S. Senate, combined?

Approve vote Thursday, take the vote Thursday, else Friday latest. And where is the motion to vacate the chair that was announced over the past weekend?

No, I don’t think so. McCarthy had already said during the summer recess, that he would be bringing it to a vote once Congress was back in session.. Perhaps Gaetz got wind that McCarthy was wavering on his earlier commitment, which prompted Gaetz’s statement yesterday, but that’s just speculation at this point.
