After the debacle of the Afghanistan withdrawal at Basra AB, limited US boots on the ground at this point would be extremely bad optics and a juicy target.
Stop raining on the drama queen parade. Besides, we have significant forces in or soon to be in theater to deal with most contingencies. Mostly that would be rescuing/evacuating American citizens, humanitarian assistance, striking Hezbollah terrorists in Syria/Lebanon/Iraq if they start attacking civilian targets in Israel, or US forces in Syria and Iraq. They are also a strong deterrent to Syria, Lebanon or other potential players in case they consider direct involvement in the Israel-Hamas war. These forces also have significant C5ISR systems to monitor the entire theater, not to mention their ballistic missile defense capabilities. An ESG/MEU and 2 Carrier Strike Groups bring massive force. Thousands of Marines, 8 Tomahawk shooters and 2 carrier air wings. And that's just the USN.
