That area isn’t really the ghetto, either. It’s been quite gentrified.

Murders are way up. I believe the crime map would still show that part of 14th St. as higher crime including murders.
In 2016 I started a side job with Uber, working every neighborhood of Washington D.C. at night and overnight. My strategy was that I would drop folks off in the bad areas, but then turn off the Uber app and head back downtown. Locals gave me some good advice too.
On the morning of July 10, 2016 around 4:00 AM, I was near the neighborhood where Seth Rich was shot. I was thinking later that I could have given him a ride...if he had called.
