A freeze on new NYPD recruits is among the “horrendous” budget cuts expected to come down Thursday — as the Big Apple grapples with the soaring cost of the migrant crisis, The Post has learned.
In addition to axing the new police academy class, Mayor Eric Adams is expected to slash migrant spending by 20% and scale back Sanitation Department litter basket pickups, multiple sources said.
“Everything is being cut. Nothing is being held harmless,” a source briefed by the city’s budget director, Jacques Jiha, told The Post.

Could this be part of the Democrats plans for holding on to power? Let more crimes happen, left unpunished, and continue to drive off the police forces and ultimately call in the military (US or UN?) to take over and restore law and order. Of course the Dems will have to suspend elections and stay in power until law and order is reestablished even if it takes a 100 years.
One of the dirty secrets of the "Defund The Police" movement was that these cities couldn't attract enough cops to begin with.
Making the good, hard-working folks pay for the newcomers. All so the dems can get those illegal votes.

“Specifically, the laws written by Albany the New York City Council have made policing very difficult in New York City,” said Joseph Giacalone, retired NYPD sergeant and adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. “And that’s what I think a lot of cops are just throwing their hands up and saying I can’t do this job anymore.”
“A lot of people don’t respect them,” said one New York city resident speaking to FOX 5 NY. “And I think police officers and firemen have to be respected and cherished a lot because without them, I don’t know where the city would be.”
