BRUSSELS, Jan 18 (Reuters) - Around 90,000 troops will participate in NATO's largest exercise for decades, known as Steadfast Defender 2024, that will kick off next week and run through to May, the alliance's top commander Chris Cavoli said on Thursday.

"According to the ANG, Air Defender is “NATO's largest airpower exercise since its inception.” More than 40 Guard units are participating. Their aircraft include F-35s, F-15s, F-16s, A-10s, MQ-9s, C-130s, KC-135s, C-17s, and KC-46s. Active-Duty F-16s from Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, will also join in."

Russia is mentioned as the intended recipient of the message conveyed by this "exercise".

Doesn't that contradict your parenthetical in the posted article title?

I meant to say in other articles, thanks for mentioning that.

Exercise Steadfast Defender 24: NATO to practice war against Putin’s Russia

At a time of escalating global tensions, UK Secretary of State for Defence, Grant Shapps, is poised to announce to announce the deployment of 20,000 British troops on NATO’s Exercise Steadfast Defender 24 – to practice repelling an invasion by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s forces.

His vision, to be outlined at London’s Lancaster House today, will seek to fortify the United Kingdom’s resilience against potential threats, foster leadership among allies, and staunchly defend the nation.

In the aftermath of recent targeted Royal Air Force operations against the Houthis in Yemen and the unveiling of a robust £2.5 billion UK support package for Ukraine, the Defence Secretary is anticipated to announce plans for the exercise.

A 3 month “ exercise”?

Or a contingency force in place for when DC and London cross another red line in Crimea?

The "message" is a message?

Germany 'Can't Explain' Use of Broomsticks Instead of Guns in NATO Exercise Newsweek, 19 February 2015

Seems like old news, eh? But...

As to Grant Shapps.... a look into Britain's recent "message"....

Defence review: British army to be cut to 72,500 troops by 2025 BBC, 22nd March 2021

If NATO enters Ukraine, a non-NATO nation, it enters the war as an official belligerent. If NATO enters Russia, it enters another non-NATO nation as a belligerent. If after three months of "exercise" -- which spends money of course -- it does nothing, then it does nothing. Time will tell.

so this is how the Deep State plans on dragging us into a WAR.

I'm inclined to agree. Their thinking is that at this point they NEED WW3, its the only thing left to distract from Trump.

OK, when the crap hits the fan, how many hundreds of thousands of mobilized, well trained and equipped with the most modern weapons will NATO actually have sitting on the Russia/NATO frontier. The Russians have, at minimum, 750,000 of the above type troops sitting there in reserve now. How many tanks, artillery tubes and millions of artillery rounds does NATO have in theater to match the massive materiel reserves of the Russians? Don’t forget our other two burgeoning wars that have to manned and supplied simultaneously.

--- "Their thinking is that at this point they NEED WW3, its the only thing left to distract from Trump."

Ed Dowd has spoken of "Disease X! It is now Disease DIC! Debt Implosion Cover-up." It seems that the world must be aflame by war and fearmongering to keep our prying eyes off of the massive corruption ongoing, here as in Europe and elsewhere.

It may well be that you and Dowd are both correct. And therefore, of course, to be deemed guilty of mis- and dis-information as Ursula von der Leyen accused us all at Davos.

Problem: How to get a WWIII as a land war only in Ukraine.... Limited somehow doesn't seem something that can be accomplished long term.

Three months of revived headlines is my bet. Their actual ‘support’ will be over quickly and quietly ignored, IMO.

I flew many REFORGER missions in the mid 70’s as a young load master on C141-A’s. Back then everyone was worried about the Ruskies pouring through the Fulda Gap.

I was impressed by that coffee and hot liquid system they had on the 141 and thought it was nice to have put on it, do you know anything about that?

If we flew configured for pax we usually flew with a comfort pallet, basically a portable galley that ran off of the aircraft power.

The aircraft normally had a small coffee dispenser right inside the crew door that was loaded with coffee that made army field coffee seem weak.
