Marion Harry’s first wife, a real. nasty piece of work and other top staff went to jail for ripping off their constituents with all kinds of financial thefts.
According to a friend of second wife Effie Barry, he hit her so hard that she had to have a lot of facial surgery. Had her sent to a hospital in Baltimore in the hopes that nobody would recognizE used to ride the MARC train from DC to Baltimore.
His third wife had him by the balls and controlled a lot of his later life (don’t know if she knew about his coke-smoking mistress but I suspect she did to some degree).
Some members of the DC City Council had close ties to the Communist Party of DC/VA including Hilda Mason. He became a professor at Howard University
PS: my late father-in-law was a major DC official. Need I say more?
