Texas Land Commissioner shuts down cartel activity on island, cleared weapons and explosives

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham had a recent victory against the Mexican cartels after the Lone Star state seized control of Fronton Island, a prominent area for illegal activity.

"This island before it was claimed, was literally a law enforcement free zone for the cartels to do whatever they wanted," Buckingham said on the John Solomon Reports podcast.

"American law enforcement couldn't step on it. Mexican law enforcement couldn't step on it. It was a safe haven for the cartels to stash all kinds of weapons, all kinds of drugs, and run untold numbers of people across. It's also at literally the most dangerous point at the border."

Fronton Island is a census-designated place that is located in Starr County, Texas and borders Mexico.

Last week, Buckingham held a press conference where she discussed the partnership between the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Texas General Land Office to shut down cartel activity that was occurring.

"The town right across the river in Mexico had fully automatic weapon fire every single night and warring cartels," she told the podcast. "It is literally the bloodiest, most dangerous part of the border. That's why it was so important to take it. It's 170 acres. It's a pretty big island."

That had to be a hard task to tackle. Kudos to the brave men that accomplished it.

When I lived in Austin, a friend of mine would drive down to Matamoros, Mexico for the weekend. This was in the 90’s.

DHS and DEA couldn’t do a thing about it.

I believe it would be classified as much a “wouldn’t” as a “couldn’t”...

Especially if it is being used, as you understand a launching pad for invaders.

Texas Ping, the Best State in the USA!

A ping out to the Texas Ping list, founded by Windflier.

The Homeland Security Department revealed last month that the backlog of tracking and vetting illegal aliens inside the U.S. has nearly doubled under Biden to over six million while arrests of suspected terrorists and violent offenders have also exploded.

Another special Texas winter edition for your perusal.

As always, please FReepmail me if you want on or off the Texas Ping list.

Blessings, and stay warm!

This all began in earnest with that trash jorge busho. O’bozo merely continued what the bushes began.

Sounds like one of the islands in the Rio Grande in which boxing matches were held back in the early 1900s when boxing was outlawed.

Yet the FBI and ATF couldn’t wait to murder most of 100 men, women, and children in Waco over allegedly having illegal firearms.

I’ve been to Matamoros and it’s a real pit. Once was enough. He must have had a girlfriend there.

Thank you new Land Commissioner Buckingham.

Our old Land Commissioner George P. Bush, JEB Bush’s son, collected a paycheck but never set foot in his office the first year because he was on daddy’s campaign tour. He would have given the island to Mexico if no one was looking. Heck, he pretty much tried to do that with the Alamo.

170 acres==just over 1/4 section.

640 acres == a section==1 mile square.

This would be 1/2 mile X 1/2 mile or so==around 11,000 SQ FT

We drove across in El Paso just long enough for our exchange student and me to say we’d been there. What a horrid place. Bad vibes cut it even shorter. Spent longer on the bridge with all begging kids and guys wanting to wash the windshield.

During Obama, the Mexican Army drove a few of the jeeps across the Donna, TX bridge. They claimed they were lost and didn’t realize where they were. Yea, a big bridge across the Rio Grande River and they were clueless. Nothing was done about it. Hmm, lets see the response if the US Army took a Sunday drive south across the bridge.
