The Southern border along the Rio Grande is a mess as far as
being a secure border from crosers. The Texas border makes up
about half of the U.S. – Mexico border, stretching 1,254 miles
from the Gulf of México to El Paso. Various attempts have been
used but to little success.

U.S.-Mexico Border Barriers Now Total 741 Miles of 1241 miles
using some different approaches. Texas money, no federal or other
states help to my knowing.

McALLEN, Texas (Border Report) — The State of Texas on Thursday appealed a federal judge’s ruling that will allow federal Border Patrol agents to take down border barriers that the state put along the Rio Grande in places like Eagle Pass and El Paso.

Rio Grande from its starting point in Colorado to it's end at
the Gulf of Mexico. It follows the border of Texas/Mexico
to it's final end at the Gulf. The Texas portion is where most
of the illegal crossings take place as it is shallow and easy to
wade across.
