George Soros is expanding his radio empire

Try as they might, throughout the years, liberals have not been able to succeed with their version of “liberal talk radio.” Currently, 91 percent of talk radio is conservative. In 2004, Air America premiered as the liberal alternative, but it only lasted until 2010.

But that might be changing.

Leftist (and some say communist) billionaire George Soros has filed the paperwork to purchase a large chunk of Audacy Radio’s $415 million senior debt, which will make Soros Fund Management the largest stakeholder. Audacy is the nation’s second-largest radio company, with 220 stations nationwide. The number one U.S. radio broadcaster is iHeartMedia with more than 860 live broadcast stations in 160 markets across the United States.

In 2022, Soros took over 18 Spanish-language radio stations when his company purchased Latino Media Network.

That's not the main point of Soros' acquisition. The point is to kill off conservative channels, particularly those targeting Hispanics. Leftists don't need to build successful messaging themselves as long as they can kill off conservative messagng.

They’re going to find out the hard way that terrestrial broadcast radio barely scratches by financially.

Needed: antitrust limits on media concentration, which usually favors leftists having tons of money.

How come Rupert Murdoch is the only right leaning millionaire who puts money into media? This is what happens when you spend the last 40 years lowering their taxes, they all become liberals and Democrats or don't care anymore. Maybe it is time to raise their taxes to where they were before.

Murdoch is the biggest, designated fake/a-little-bit-right mogul, but his sons and their wives object to even that.

NewsMax and others are lesser stars in that galaxy.

And of course Infowars, now Tucker, etc., are among the biggest alt-right in that realm.

It is not in ‘The Public Interest’ to have foreign nationals owning control of our airwaves.

They’re going to find out the hard way that terrestrial broadcast radio barely scratches by financially.

When I moved from San Diego where KOGO was a well run conservative station to Pocatello where KID was the conservative station, I saw a HUGE difference in what a big city radio station can do vs one in a small eastern Idaho environment can do. The KID operation is far less professional. The "automation" fails often leaving dead air or endless loops of PSA content in place of top of the hour news and national network broadcast feeds. The 92.1 transmitter for KID sits on top of Chinese Peak near Pocatello. During the Winter, the mountain is covered in snow. Transmitter outages and off frequency occurs often and access to the mountain top is extremely difficult. I've driven up on a "nice" day in Summer with my F150 4x4. Really hard on my vehicle. Not anxious for a repeat.

I was most amused when KID ran competitors ads back to back. Really? KOGO had a "traffic" department for ads to ensure that competitor ads were never played in close proximity.
