Dockweiler is one of the few beaches in the Los Angeles area that has fire pits. It also has RV hookups. So this is one of the few beaches which can have many people hanging around after dark.

I have a feeling this won't be the case much longer.

This is also the location where an idiot county supervisor turned a 4-lane road (2 in each direction) into a 2-lane road in order to minimize the number of idiots getting run over while parking on one side and walking across to get to the beach. This was a major commuting route for those going up the coast to avoid the notorious 405.

The road was converted back to 4-lane within a few months after the hue and cry. The conversion and re-conversion both done at taxpayer expense, of course.
