Democrats war on the war on drugs hasn’t worked out very well. The only reason this was passed was due to pressure from relatively sane Democrats. Oregon is a one party clown world state/

I am tired of trying to help the moron leftists!

let them die

they don’t want to have kids, fine, end your line

they want to cut off their penises, fine, end your line

they want to let robbers and murderers roam their streets, fine, they will be the victims

they want to tax and regulate business to death, fine, they will have no tax base in their hellholes

they want to murder any babies they do have in their wombs, fine, end your line.

Most of what liberals do only hurts themselves, lets just let them and then move on when they are all dead.

This is surprising. I thought for sure they’d start taxing it.

Irrelevant if there’s not enough cops to enforce it or DA’s and judges that will prosecute.

Did anybody notice these two lines in the article?

"However overdoses soared as the state struggled to fund the enhanced treatment centers at the core of the decriminalization plan."

"'With this bill, we are doubling down on our commitment to make sure Oregonians have access to the treatment and care that they need,' said Democratic Senate Majority Leader Kate Lieber, of Portland, one of the bill's authors."

I actually agree with this.

I certainly don't trust the same federal government that has allowed all of these drugs into the country with their open border policies to fight them.

Criminalizing drug use essentially does one thing. It gives cops a contraband tool to stop and arrest people who are harming themselves. I’m sorry, but I don’t see why it is my right or duty as a citizen to keep people from harming themselves.

Drug use is a self-eliminating problem. Some self-important somebody’s li’l darlin’ must have offed himself. Spend more time raising your children, and leave me out of this.

So much for the deluded libertarian idea that legalizing drugs and letting the government control it is a good idea.

Since “Big Pharma” orchestrated passage of “The Pure Food and Drug Act” of 1906 to benefit themselves and the - predominantly progressive - congressional members and progressive president, Teddy Roosevelt bought off in the process- they bought off, the eventual passage - by yet another progressive president, Richard M. Nixon - of the E.O. creating the DEA “the drug problem” has gotten worse, as have the police state actions of the alphabet agencies enforcing “drug laws,” the cartels, border incursions, etc.

The one solution not openly discussed, nor considered by “experts” is a simple one, what used to work, and that is to decriminalize the use of ALL “controlled” drugs.

We actually have an example of where this WORKED and that is the repeal of the socialist/progressive-invoked Volstead Act whereby government made enormous profits off the taxation of alcohol rather than spend more money in an endless downward spiral in attempting to control its - untaxed - production, distribution and use.

This DID, however, create an ARMY division’s worth of civil-rights destroying federal corruptocrats in the development of the ATF, FDA, DEA, FBI, etc.

A simple solution is rarely proposed and acted upon by “the experts.”

“THE” solution?

Legalize it. All of it. Let the bodies hit the floor. One hundred thousand fentanyl-associated suicides (play Russian roulette and it’s intentional, not accidental) annually is already a tragedy, let the Darwinian exercise play out, shut down the DEA, tax “drugs” if you must, but I suggest the annual death toll will plummet to single-digit percentages of what we already experience.

190% is a big number designed to emotionalize a small number. OD’s didnt even triple. thats good news on both fronts, useless fools are offing themselves at a slower rate than expected, +legalizing drugs has lead the less arrests. /s?.

Don’t end it until the purge is complete. Anyone stupid enough to use that stuff with what is known now is likely part of the problem.

Oregon just doesnt have the patience to see this work. There is always a spike in usage when things are made un-illegal. After a while the usage drops back down to normal range. They shoulda stuck it out a lil longer! Their hope of a true utopia are dashed again by their own stupidity.
