Sweden’s military seems to be very capable man for man. A big problem is interoperability and unified command. For instance, if they were not NATO members they could not use NATO IFF, and the difficulty of sorting out Swedish and Russian planes in the event of war could be a real problem. The Russians would have no qualms about violating Swedish airspace in the event of war, and Norwegians and Danes could not distinguish Swedish and Finnish aircraft, and Swedish and Finnish air defenses could not distinguish Russian and NATO aircraft. Similar story with submarines and surface vessels.
Since there is roughly less than a 0.00000% probability of NATO attacking Sweden in the foreseeable future, this is a win-win for Sweden.
