The leader of a church in Hartford, Connecticut, has pushed for the formation of an armed citizen patrol to supervise the streets.

Archbishop Dexter Burke demanded armed citizen patrols after Garden Street experienced a spate of gun-related crimes, including a double homicide near his church in February.

Cornell Lewis, a local activist, spearheaded the effort and launched 'Minister Cornell Lewis' Self-Defense Brigade. '

Archbishop Burke's solution to local violence has drawn criticism from Hartford's mayor, Arunan Arulampalam.

The mayor’s bio:

Arunan Arulampalam is an American politician who is the mayor of Hartford, Connecticut. A member of the Democratic Party, Arulampalam won the November 2023 election for mayor and was sworn in on January 1, 2024. Wikipedia
Born: 1985 (age 38 years), Bulawayo, Zimbabwe

Imo, doesn’t identify with America, Americans, their freedoms or liberties. How can he support that which he cannot comprehend or respect? The church is right to show no regard to him.

This is the natural progression when governments fail to keep their part of the bargain - In exchange for citizens not taking the law into their own hands, the government promises to punish those that wrong them.

Democrat policies (soft on crime and criminals) have turned our cities from being safe to third world s***holes where criminals can steal and commit violence without fear of punishment while citizen who try to protect themselves are punished.

There was a dystopian novel written in the 1990s, and I don't remember the author's name, which projected a second civil war starting when the black men of Newark, New Jersey armed themselves to stop rampant crime. They stopped the crime but the Feds were angry and sent the New York Air National Guard to attack the vigilantes. However, the National Guard mutined and painted over the Air Force insignia. That was the start of the second civil war.

“ you’d think this mayor would be used to roving men with guns.”

That’s the problem, HE IS used to it, they’re his people, his normal. This is the way of 3rd world politicians, violence and terror as a means of control. This mayor needs to go.

Every sheriff in America should start deputizing men like these.
The left would lose their minds because fear is control.

Hartford, Connecticut might get an unfair rep of being an unsafe city, however, Hartford is only 20 square miles, as opposed to some other cities with larger area. Jacksonville is about 10 times the size of Hartford. If you compared Hartford region (From Granby to Somers at the Northern edge to Middletown and East Hampton at the southern end, Avon at the Western end and Tolland at the eastern end), you might see the crime stats lower.

Hartford is an underrated city. The West Indian area is wonderful. The Cricket Hall of Fame is in Hartford. Nook Farms (Harriet Beecher Stowe and Mark Twain houses) is worth visiting. In Bristol, the oldest amusement park, is worth the visit.

Before Freeper tourists start planning their vacation please note—the city is extremely off the charts dangerous at night—every square inch within the city limits.

Ten miles away in the Farmington Valley is Whitopia—very prosperous and safe 24/7.

Also—in the city car break-ins are extremely common—even in parking lots. Never leave anything of value in your city within the city limits.

Shhhh.... There’re plenty right here on this forum like that. 70 years of communist disinformation, propaganda and influence operations affects many.

IMO if all FReepers passed CI training they’d be much more resistant to it. And the forum would remain truer to its charter and purpose.

OMG! You said a mouthful there. RIGHT ON! I’ve noticed this myself and it’s almost impossible to combat it.
