It is an article of Muslim faith that the whole world will go Muslim eventually. Some are more immediately apocalyptic about it that others.
But Jerusalem in particular is lost territory that was given to Muhammad in a dream where he goes there on a flying horse. That is the basis of the Muslim claim. Yes that really is part of that religion.
