I suppose his lawyers can argue that at the motion hearing. The original reason was to prevent contamination of the jury pool and the intimidation of witnesses.
I would think if intimidation of witnesses was an issue the case would best be moved to a more neutral location. Seems to me that just living in New York would be intimidating for anybody who would entertain the possibility of acquitting Trump.
