Crossing yourself is actually one of the things you do when you pray the Rosary. You can start and end any prayer with it.
Actually I don’t get why Protestants would not want to do it. It is simply an acknowledgement of the Trinity. The Trinity is the bedrock of our faith—Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Any prayer can be book-ended with this profound statement that what we are doing is done
“In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”
Biden is likely misusing this prayer or at least the cross gesture part of it, like one might superstitiously wave a head of garlic around to scare off vampires. Such misuse doesn’t mean crossing yourself in genuine prayer is wrong any more than using garlic in an actual dish is wrong.
