I suggested that all three acts should, one-at-a-time, each be voted FOR/AGAINST, so that we would see who voted for which, instead of the whole package of three acts combined.

- - -

THE ISRAEL SECURITY SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS ACT, 2024 [Also PDF]

The bill totals $26.38 billion to support Israel in its effort to defend itself against Iran and its proxies, and to reimburse U.S. military operations in response to recent attacks.

- - -

THE UKRAINE SECURITY SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS ACT, 2024 [Also PDF]

The bill totals $60.84 billion to address the conflict in Ukraine and assist our regional partners as they counter Russia, $23.2 billion of which will be used for replenishment of U.S. weapons, stocks, and facilities.

- - -

THE INDO-PACIFIC SECURITY SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS ACT, 2024 [Also PDF]

The bill totals $8.12 billion to continue efforts to counter communist China and ensure a strong deterrence in the region.

It achieves the purposes of US foreign policy going back nearly a century, plus the long term investments in a large part of the US military.

The bulk of the US Army exists for this very reason, to prevent or oppose international aggression in Europe. It was built and has been maintained on this scale for this this purpose.

I imagine Raytheon has been working overtime building a stockpile of Patriot missiles these last 6 months.

If someone’s spouse was spending 1% on the family budget on crack cocaine, your failed logic; “but it’s only 1% of the total budget!” would make the same sense, JUST like it makes no sense here and is simply a misdirection.

Or worse yet, if the NEIGHBOR of your spouse justified her crack habit with YOUR money, using your failed misdirection.

None WHATSOEVER.

Stupid comment by you.

You’re the neighbor...in Canada...in this analogy.
...in case this didn’t sink in.

“If FR is now FreeRussia, I am leaving”

Your call, of course - although I see no shortage of Zelenskyy sycophants on FR.

My point going back decades.

These knobs really dont care and they never have.

They dont understand the issues and they are too
lazy to research. This goes back to, say, the Obamacare debates of 2009.

May the docks where the armaments are offloaded and temporarily stored be completely obliterated, once the shipment is offloaded.

...with no human casualties of course =o)

Its being driven across the border from Poland or Romania.
Normally, if going by sea, it is landed on Polish, German or Dutch ports.

Your wishes sound quite insane.

Its rather difficult to “launder” Patriot missiles.
There is no black market for these things. Think about it.

“The announcements this week underscore America’s enduring commitment to Ukraine’s defense,” Austin said

Playing defense doesn’t win wars. Just extends the time until defeat.

Why do so many debates have to be black or white, choose this side or that? Russia or Ukraine? Israel or Palestinian? Everything is much more nuanced than people want to discuss.

The Ukraine war has been a disaster for everyone, especially Ukraine but also for Russia and, frankly for the US and Europe and NATO. Putin has been reckless and bloodthirsty and he never should have invaded and he never should be targeting civilian infrastructure. Ukraine and Russia have so much shared history, and yes of course rivalry, but they could have been good partners. In fact they were for a long time.

There are a lot of problems with Ukraine though, too. Just a quick list - Obama let Putin walk into Crimea in 2014, basically setting some sort of precedent that Putin can take Ukranian land. Why did we allow that then? The CIA led a color revolution to change Ukraine. NATO continued to move east despite promises it wouldn’t, we now have missiles and troops on Russia’s border. And the entire Burisma deal, Hunter’s sweetheart paycheck (and, he also go money from Moscow!?), Biden bragging about blackmailing the Ukrainian prosecutor to drop an investigation, Trump’s phone call which IMHO was a perfectly legitimate inquiry within the enumerated powers of his Office and then subsequent impeachment over that phone call as “election interference” against a candidate who wasn’t even a candidate... You can see why a lot of people have a very bad taste in their mouth about Ukraine, right?

It’s a sad sorry mess. And we didn’t do enough fast enough early enough to repel Russian troops. They spent months amassing tanks and APCs on the Ukranian border and we didn’t help Ukraine prepare proper defenses and counter offenses. Ukraine should have been ready to blow that equipment to smithereens once they crossed the border. It’s almost as if we wanted this war. And some people believe we did; the people who are still in the cold war mentality.

I am no fan of Russia, especially now. But we (America) made a drastic mistake decades ago by continuing to treat Russia like a boogieman after the fall of the Berlin wall. It might not have been easy, but Russia could have been slowly brought into the European fold - they have obvious history, they have reliance on Russian energy, they share borders, they are all basically White Christian and Western. The only reason things have escalated to this point is because of horrible policies going back decades, and unproductive, antagonizing foreign meddling inside Ukraine by both the West and Russia. It’s truly a mess, and so sad the way out it seems is just to keep warring. I fear it will be a pyrrhic victory for Ukraine, though.

plus the long term investments in a large part of the US military.

American marxists and leftists love using the word "investment" to describe pissing-away incredible sums of taxpayer money on ridiculous social-engineering schemes, and funding their cronies and bloated political blocs.

think about it

Maintaining 20 divisions of the US Army (incl NG) is a “social experiment”?

5000+ Abrams tanks is a “social experiment”?
1000+ Patriot launchers is a “social experiment”?

These are capital assets. They should even be depreciated per GAAP (but aren’t).

It seems to me you want to fight with someone about something else, but in your bad mood you settle for biting at anyone within reach.
