If you find even a sympathetic biography of Biden... he was a skinny kid who was small for his age with a stutter that other children made fun of. One of his nicknames was “Joe Impedimenta”. He was afraid of basically everything. He has a history from childhood of exaggerating, fabricating, and plagiarizing stories from others. He is the ultimate loser who managed to lie his way into a position of authority.
