Nolte: Fact Checking Barbra Streisand’s Presidential Economic Report Card
Breitbart ^ | 04/29/2024 | JOHN NOLTE

According to Barbra Streisand, over the last 40 years, America has enjoyed only economic good times under Democrat presidents and economic recessions under Republican presidents.

Here’s her audaciously dishonest report card:

— Barbra Streisand (@BarbraStreisand) April 29, 2024

This is easy to fact-check, something the 82-year-old liar is hoping none of her 812,000 Xwitter followers do. She’s hoping their attitude is, Well, Babs did sing about people who need people, so she must know here stuff. The thing is, she probably does know her stuff and chose to lie anyway.

As you can see here, the truth is this….

In January of 1981, Ronald Reagan (1981-1988) inherited a disastrous economy from Jimmy Carter and rescued the economy with year after year of robust economic growth. Thanks to Reagan’s tax and regulation cuts, the economy took off in 1983 and sailed along with only a couple of rough patches for the next 25 years.

While it’s true there was a recession under Republican George H.W. Bush (1989-1992), it was a shallow and quick one. Nevertheless, even though the economy was back on its feet by 1992, it cost Bush his reelection. This meant Democrat Bill Clinton (1993-2000) inherited a growing economy. Clinton did a great job managing this inherited economy. He was smart enough to get out of the way of what was still the Reagan Revolution. However, when Clinton left office in 2000, we found ourselves in another shallow recession.

Also there was never a surplus under Clinton. The national debt grew every year.

Streisand is a good singer. I’ll give her that.

Funny how being in the entertainment business makes people think they are experts in literally everything. Streisand had as much business lecturing us about economics as she does lecturing us about quantum physics.

Yep.

And there are people on this website who still patronize her by buying music, watching her movies, etc.

She still makes money, and uses her platform for crap like this, and there are armies of mindless dummies who soak it all up.

Her great wealth has allowed her to shield herself from the real world, living on an ocean-front property in California - she doesn’t have to worry about inflation, putting gas in the car, wondering if you have enough for the mortgage b/c high prices on everything are eating you alive.

But she knows how the economy works, knows how you should live your life. It’s a wonder anyone even listens to these idiots - but the left love her and truth has never mattered to them.

National debt was 33 trillion less today than a quarter century.

I guess Streisand couldn’t be worse than Biden, but I don’t remember us electing her.

Let’s not forget Clinton’s first official act as president-elect was to break his promise of a middle class tax cut, with the excuse of insufficient money to pay for it. He also passed a tax increase in 1993 that was retroactive to the previous year and was billed as the largest tax hike in history at the time.

And later on, his statement that the surplus revenue at that time would be used to “pay down the national debt,” rather than as a rebate to taxpayers, with the statement that government knew better than taxpayers how to spend their money.
