Ukraine forced to withdraw from more villages as Russia intensifies pressure

Ukrainian troops have made a tactical retreat from three more villages as Russian forces press forward across the eastern front line and take advantage of Kyiv’s exhausted military, which is desperately awaiting the arrival of new U.S. assistance.

Ukraine’s commander in chief, Col. Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi, said in a Telegram post Sunday that the “situation at the front has worsened” and described some of the toughest fighting west of Avdiivka, the city that fell to Russian forces in February. In that direction, Ukrainian troops withdrew from the villages of Berdychi, Semenivka and Novomykhailivka.

“Trying to seize the strategic initiative and break through the front line, the enemy concentrated the main efforts in several directions, creating a significant advantage in forces and means,” Syrskyi said.

That region is a tough place to stage a fast offensive during the muddy season. And it seems like that season is about finished now. Russia should be able to move off-road with success for quite a few months. Ukraine is finished.

It is always US assistance. We have sent assistance for over two years and none of it has helped.

They are dragging people out of homes to be sent to the meat grinder just to justify keeping this money flow to the governments involved. I would not think bad of any Uke for walking away from this debacle.

People have had enough of this.

Novomykhailivka

In other news, the Ukrainian government announces that it was ordering a strategic retreat from some villages as a cost-cutting measure.

“It costs too damn much to print road signs and address labels in some of these places,” said spokesman Yvgeny Ima Sonovabich, “And besides, how the hell is anyone in the U.S. government going to read military briefings from these villages when they can barely understand two-syllable words?”

:-P

“Ukraine is finished.”

I’ve been hearing and reading this same comment every day or so for the past twenty-six months.

What changed that makes a Russian victory so certain in your eyes? And exactly when do you expect Russian troops to make it to the Polish border to declare final victory?

We all know they’re going to lose. I don’t like it, but good grief, anyone with a modicum of historical knowledge knows that Russia will keep throwing lives at their unfortunate neighbor until victory is achieved. Worked for WW II. Working now.

And we imposed sanctions which didn’t work either.

LOL

This neocon globalist think tank the MSM worships just put out an update 2 days ago …. Delusional .. another Ukraine counter offensive LOL
______
…neither of these efforts are likely to develop into an operationally significant penetration in the near term.

Well-provisioned Ukrainian forces will likely be able to prevent operationally significant Russian advances...

Ukraine is very likely to stabilize the frontlines in the coming months and may be able to begin limited counteroffensive operations in late 2024 or early 2025.

exhausted military, which is desperately awaiting the arrival of new U.S. assistance

If they are exhausted (which is easy to believe), the "arrival of new US assistance" will be meaningless.

When the history of this war is written, I hope the historians focus on the massive delusion of Western elites who believe that narrative, properly controlled, is the same as or better than force.

Biden has screwed up everything he touches. Virtually everything. The fact that Ukraine is a disaster should not surprise anyone.

“desperately awaiting the arrival of new U.S. assistance.”

LOL. A big chunk of that $60 billion”, roughly $ we billion, was to pay for weapons that we have already delivered and consumed by the Ukraine without congressional approval. The $60 billion was for covering the hole.

The Ukraine is dead, stick a fork in it.

Now, now...Ukrainians die so the defense industry can thrive.

McConnell more or less is admitting that.
