Even alcoholics know the dangers of booze. Not so with weed heads.

“Weed ruins people.”

Criminalizing things that people use to ruin themselves - whether weed, booze, or unhealthy diets - is textbook nanny-statism.

You see what you want to see. If you want to see ruined go to the emergency any night of the week. You’ll wait hours to see a doctor. These aren’t potheads going to the emergency room, it’s meth and fentanyl. A ruined person may smoke pot but that wasn’t what made them ruined, bad choices did.

” Weed ruins people. See it every day. “

We have Regimes across the West who are promoting dope, porn, opiates, video games, fast food, seed oils, corn syrup and social media. All of which promote obesity, lethargy, paranoia, poor attention span, passivity and dependence.

At the same time we have tobacco bans (menthol, anyone born in the UK after 2008 will never be able to legally buy tobacco. etc.).

I don’t recommend tobacco as healthy, but isn’t it interesting that the Regime wants to ban the drug that promotes, calmness, concentration, and mental focus.

In any case, Regimes which limit tobacco but promote fentanyl, opiates, meth, crack... etc are not genuinely concerned with your health.

My “challenged” neighbors are now smoking it often, yesterday it was before 8am, and regularly they smoke it with their underage child. Maryland's roads stink of it and drivers are intense and aggressive. Crime is everywhere. It's a mistake to legalize it.

“Weed ruins people. See it every day.”

So does alcohol, but it often ruins other people’s lives in the process. I’ve seen plenty of loud, obnoxious, violent drunks (including two drunk people who broke their hands punching walls). They get into fights, insist on driving when they can barely walk, etc.

Never saw someone high on marijuana do much more than eat all of the Nutter Butter cookies, and certainly never saw any of them get loud, obnoxious, or remotely violent or destructive.

If I had to choose which to make illegal, it would be alcohol. But I am not the kind of person who believes that everyone’s behavior should be controlled by the lack of self-control of others. Just because some people can’t exercise moderation with alcohol or marijuana, doesn’t mean everyone can’t.

One of the biggest problems we have today, is that no one is held responsible for their behavior and choices. As a result, we are all made less free.
