Not necessarily great playing these games before the election will just destroy the Republican base even further. They’re beginning to lack all credibility. I think think that they should focus on defeating Democrats and not focus on defeating Republicans trying to hold on the majority.

You make a fair point. The Reagan quote does apply. On the other hand, conservatives are always told to wait. This is not the best time to make a move. Wait, and compromise.
