Hmmm can anyone fill us in here? What's the story?

I did a quick News search on Peskin:

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) ā€” In a move anticipated by political insiders, San Francisco Board of Supervisors President and District 3 Supervisor Aaron Peskin officially announced his candidacy for mayor. Peskin is a tested lawmaker with more than two decades of experience representing San Francisco voters and is considered the dominant progressive in a race crowded by moderate candidates.

While a progressive has not won the mayoral seat since Art Agnos in 1987, some political analysts say Peskin could carry enough clout to rally the cityā€™s liberal base ā€“ around 35% of city voters ā€“ to win under San Franciscoā€™s ranked-choice voting system.

His only good thing I can see so far is promoting historic preservation

He might just as well leave anyway, whoever they elect will be just as bad or worse. They’re brainless fools and addicts. What else would he expect?

The issue is socialism.

Musk is prepared to pull up roots if California cannot politically moderate itself.

California is just fine, it’s the illegals and the cheating democrats who are the problem

California may be fine in so many ways, but the Democrats in power are going to push it over a cliff. Businesses that are mobile will leave.

It’s deliberately done, because I believe the elites want the state for themselves, but that is what is going to happen. If you are in California, you are better off to get out before you can’t leave.

Texas is now a sea of brown, it has more illegals than all other states combined, best thing is for all the 49 states to send their Jose’s and Pedro’s and Consuela’s to Texas and just build a wall around that place

I agree. Let California consume itself to its own policies that it wanted for the rest of the country.

I see you easily fall for Democratic propaganda

“The illegals and cheating Democrats have nothing to do with the California government being corrupt, it’s those darn California citizens who voted for Reagan, Bush, and Pete Wilson who just magically switched to Democrat for no reason whatsoever!”

So, here’s the deal... Peskin is nicknamed “the little Ayatollah”... he’s a doctrinaire man of the left in the mold of a Bernie Sanders... but without Bernie’s good nature. He’s also notorious for his anger issues as well as a history of alcohol abuse. He’s supposedly sober now, and I congratulate him on that if it’s true. But I certainly get where Elon is coming from on this. Peskin as Mayor would mean tripling down on the leftist agenda that brought the city to its knees.

As I understand California, the way the population is distributed, Republicans do not have a chance of winning the state. When close to 100% of a population, in this case Republicans, can vote one way and they still lose, their representation is just theoretical. One can argue that they have representation on books, just not in life.

You’re not going to tell me that California Republicans support what is happening to their state. It is a Democrat fortress and those with representation will vote Democrat until it becomes too obvious that how they are voting is hurting them.

But there is nothing for Republicans to do here, because they will never hold power in California ever again.

And yet people like you said that no Republican would ever win Virginia again and yet look what happened with Youngkin in 2022

It took Virginia pain to get people to vote against the party that was causing them pain. It’s the same with California, except to a different degree.

It takes pain. A liberal will vote liberal until how he is voting costs him. Whatever the liberal issue is, it has to cost them before they stop voting liberal. Take illegal immigration, for example, when it was just the border states getting hurt, they didn’t care. They called Republicans racist for not supporting open borders. When those border states made the liberal states feel the pain of illegal immigration, it suddenly became an issue for liberals.

Californians must become irreparably hurt before the liberals in California will change their mind and start making different voting choices. Until then, get out while you can.

No thanks, unlike you I am not a coward who runs from a winnable fight, maybe you should instead tell Texans to leave their state which now has more illegals than the state’s legal population

Good luck to you then. I do hope that Republicans can win the state, so they can fix things. However, I am not at all positive on this point at this time.

You can surprise me. :)

I do hope you are right. The way California is distributed, the majority has no say. Being Republican in California is a lot like being an Albertan in Canada. Albertans have no say in their country and no means to have a say. It’s forcing Albertans to find parallel ways to get independence, because we have no ability to get it on our own.

I hope you are correct and Californians are ready for a change. I really want to see California become Republican again and fix the system for good, like banning mail-in ballots for all but the medically infirmed and such. I hope it happens.

I’ll put it this way: If the Democrats were actually popular, they would not be cheating so hard

I understand and that is why I hope the Republicans can win hard so they can fix the cheating mechanisms. But I don’t know if they can fix it if 35 million Californians can vote against the Democrats, but the Democrats can still pull out a win and those in power will spend millions defending every cheating vote. I honestly don’t know how to fix that system.

Democrats could not win across the country unless they cheat.
