In places like
California, there is already legislation in the works to mandate that car manufacturers equip your vehicle so as to make it literally impossible for a driver to go more than 10 miles-an-hour over the speed limit, regardless of reason or situation. Perhaps the software monitoring program will similarly decide that it doesn’t care for the way you brake or change lanes. Or for the talk shows you listen to on the vehicle’s radio/sound system.

I’d bring up that pesky Fourth Amendment, but once they deal with the Supreme Court, it won’t be an issue.

Blame Biden. Im sure the Repukes could have filibustered and chose to do nothing. Im well past blaming Biden for everything. He could do nothing if congress opposed anything. They sre with him.

Hopefully I’ve bought the last vehicle I’m ever going to buy. If I have to buy another one and it’s equipped with this spyware, I’ll find a way to disable it, or buy an older vehicle and rebuild/restore it. None of the government’s business where I go or how I drive. Police and insurance companies already do that. This will be another epic failure. Imagine a spyware system run amok sending false data, and you’re screwed.

Pretty soon there won’t be simple pull-overs, and releases by cops... they will issue an order to have the car examined to see if any of the big brother equipment and software has been tampered with too, before appearing for court on the traffic infraction that they were pulled over for.
It will result in a lot More $$ for tyrants!

I am in the market for an old (pre-1980s) diesel powered pickup truck that I can convert to running on vegetable oil.
Planning ahead for when gasoline powered vehicles and gasoline are all illegal to buy or sell.

I’m sure it is fairly simple to disable the GPS and cell antennas on vehicles. Perhaps have a switch so you can turn it on and off as needed.
The purpose of all these laws is to prevent freedom of travel.
Same reason they want public transport and electric cars.

Section 24220 of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act mandates that
by 2026
cars must come with a ‘kill switch’. This tool can turn off the car if needed. It’s there to make roads safer and stop bad driving like when people drive drunk or too fast. Stopping high-speed chases before they get dangerous is another big reason for this law.
