House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) took a victory lap on CBS’s 60 Minutes on Sunday to brag about wrestling away control of the House from Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).
Jeffries’ boast followed three startling Democrat victories in the Johnson-led House that delivered significant lifelines to President Joe Biden, desperate for legislative victories to tout as he continues struggling in the polls against former President Donald Trump.
Johnson’s actions spurred Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) to commit to force a vote this week to eject Johnson from the Speakership.

Any speaker now will be “beholden” to the Democrats. The pressure of blackmail for things spurious or real plus immense bribery and threats against family are too much to resist. The easiest is child porn on the cell phone. It is easy to place there either prior to confiscation and “finding” it or any time the phone is not off with the battery out. In the 2024 Congress many republican congressmen and senators- of they get a majority- will be subject to the same things. Congress has already given up most of its law-making power by delegating it to the Bureaus and Agencies where almost all new laws are promulgated as “regulations” or “rules,” the violation of which can send you to prison just as if they were properly legislated laws with the difference that the administrative courts and judges operate on a different system i.e. guilty until proven innocent and then maybe still guilty.
He omitted the one key fact.
