There is a way for Starmer’s Labour to fix the big rift with Muslim voters – if it has the will

Sadiq Khan and Andy Burnham won elections in areas with large Muslim populations. Both engaged with us as citizens

The local and mayoral elections sawmany traditional Labour-voting Muslim voters abandon the party they’ve loyally supported for decades.

One incident from one interview, and one sentiment in particular that I heard in my local area, sits front and centre: “I was disgusted when Keir Starmer supported Israel’s collective punishment of Palestinians in Gaza – how can I vote for someone who won’t even apologise for this?” said one man, referring to Starmer’s performance in an interview on LBC last October and corroborated by a senior colleague that same week.

It’s true that Labour claimed its position had been misinterpreted, and its stance on Gaza did eventually move, albeit after Israel had killed well over 25,000 Palestinians, most of whom were women and children, and after the international court of justice considered there was a plausible risk of genocide. For example, David Lammy, the shadow foreign secretary, said that Israel should comply with the “profoundly serious” ICJ ruling in full, and the party called for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire”. Lisa Nandy, the shadow minister for international development, has called for funding for Unrwa, the UN relief agency, to be resumed.

..as another voter told me: “A future PM is supposed to lead, not follow. When is he going to actually lead and stop our taxpayer money funding arms going to this apartheid state?”

..Most are just not voting en masse for the Labour party any more. While few are moving to the Conservative party, given its institutional Islamophobia, many are finding alternatives, whether independent candidates or the Liberal Democrats and the Green party. ..

The easy and most effective solution is kick them out. Of course moving is not a pleasant solution for anybody but for a Mozlem it goes against their religion. Being God's ultimate gift to the Universe it is their sacred duty to spread Islam by any means necessary. Obviously booting one out of a country is counter to their sacred duty. It also explains why Islamic countries tend not to take in refugees. Try are suppose to be spreading Islam! Rejoining with other Mozlems simply will not do!

Calls for Sharia law are incompatible with British common law, which is also the foundation for the US constitution and most state law in the US. We are going to have to face up to this sooner or later because the alternative is to abandon our view of the rights of citizens in western democracies.

Muslims are subverting western democracy... Is it a coordinated attack? The answer is yes and one of their most successful strongholds is in the UK.

The west has gone from attacking terrorism after the world trade center bombings, to abandoning Afghanistan to terrorist madmen and allowing weekly protest, sit-ins and encampments in support of HAMAS by anti-democratic leftist organizations. Hamas and their leftist supporters are anti-Jewish, anti-western and anti-democratic. The stupidity is astounding.

Freedom of speech and freedom to protest are acceptable... Allowing the flaunting of terrorist support on a weekly basis is not a protest... It is a rallying cry for those who hate democracy and freedom. And western countries are allowing it and even encouraging it without any consequences. These encampments and protest should be dealt with immediately... Laws against terrorism and the support of it are on the books in most western democracies... It’s time to start throwing that book at these hooligans, instead of encouraging them with inaction.

I fear that Britain has allowed to many moslems into the country and,as a result, the country cannot be saved.

I’m sure the Muslim Brotherhood would be more than happy to set up their own political organization in the UK. Wait, haven’t they already done that?
