The National Institute of Family & Life Advocates (NIFLA) has sent a letter to Vice President Harris and President Biden inviting them to any number of pregnancy centers across the country to see what these centers do to help women facing unplanned or difficult pregnancies – all at little or no cost.
“Vice President Kamala Harris made history when she publicly visited an abortion clinic earlier this year and we’d like to show her what the other side of choice looks like by inviting her to one of our 1,700 member pregnancy centers,” said Thomas Glessner, president and founder of NIFLA. “Pregnancy centers offer not only tangible goods, services, and medical assistance to women and their families, but true empowerment and compassion.”
The letter, which can be viewed here, is accompanied by this video of several pregnancy center directors inviting VP Harris to visit.
Part of the letter states that: “In 2022 in the United States, over 2,000 pregnancy centers conducted more than 16 million client visits and donated over $358 million worth of goods and services to women and their families. We have licensed medical staff and board-certified doctors overseeing the services at our medical facilities all working towards the goal of helping women in their time of need.”
Pregnancy centers have consistently been under physical attack since Roe was overturned in June 2022 with more than 60 documented attacks of vandalism, smashed windows, dead animals on doorsteps, and a host of other criminal infractions. Yet there have been less than a handful of arrests.
“Pregnancy centers do an incredible amount of good within their own states and communities and should be protected,” said Glessner. “Both Vice President Harris and our pregnancy centers want to help women. We invite her to see another point of view on how to go about accomplishing that mission.”
The letter was sent to VP Harris and President Biden on May 6, 2024. NIFLA has received no response thus far.

In Japan women can express their sorrow over what they have done in an abortion (as well as for miscarriages they couldn’t help) in a
Mizuko kuyō (水子供養) ceremony, meaning “water child memorial service”, a Japanese Buddhist ceremony for those who have had a miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion. It is also practiced in Thailand and China. This practice has become particularly visible since the 1970s with the creation of shrines devoted solely to this ritual.
Mizuko means “child of the water.” Kuyo is a Buddhist offering. In a ritual drama played out by Jizo, the bodhisattva who suffers for others, the parents’ pain and the child’s pain are connected, and in that connection the pain of each is resolved.
