Getting missiles to France would require shooting over other NATO countries which would trigger a response.

Unless they were launched from subs or warships. They could possibly be launched from long-range bombers.
But all of this is really unnecessary. The fact that this is getting ratcheted up just shows how much it is truly viewed a war of “The Western Order” vs. Russia.
Putin is a monster, but he is not an idiot. He will continue to pound his chest for the home front.
He knows that Russia cannot win a war against NATO. That just results in nukes. HE might be able to survive in his bunker. But the rest of Russia would be in ruins.
