President Biden doesn't believe his bad poll numbers, and neither do many of his closest advisers, according to people familiar with the matter.
Why it matters: The dismissiveness of the poor polling is sincere, not public spin, according to Democrats who have spoken privately with the president and his team.
That bedrock belief has informed Biden's largely steady-as-she-goes campaign — even as many Democrats outside the White House are agitating for the campaign to change direction, given that Biden is polling well behind where he was four years ago.
The public polling simply doesn't reflect the president's support, they say.
Driving the news: In public and private, Biden has been telling anyone who will listen that he's gaining ground — and is probably up — on Donald Trump in their rematch from 2020. "While the press doesn't write about it, the momentum is clearly in our favor, with the polls moving towards us and away from Trump," Biden told donors in Medina, Wash., on Saturday. A few days earlier, confronted with some of his bad poll numbers in a rare interview with CNN, Biden offered a more sweeping indictment of polling methodology.
"The polling data has been wrong all along. How many — you guys do a poll at CNN. How many folks you have to call to get one response?" Zoom in: The latest polling in the six battleground states likely to decide the presidential race — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — doesn't paint a rosy picture for Biden.
A new New York Times/Sienna survey, which sampled more than 4,000 people across the swing states, had Trump winning five of them among registered voters.
A Bloomberg News poll last month similarly found Biden trailing Trump in six of seven swing states (they also polled North Carolina).

Three odd things going on:
1. No one believes the economic numbers. Most believe it’s the worst period now, since 1929. The WH insiders believe the gov’t reports/numbers aren’t falsified.
Unemployment rate? It doesn’t take into account that around five-million young men (age 18 to 29) aren’t working.
2. You go into Chicago, Denver, and NYC...locals are blasting incoming migrants, cost burden upon the city, and the future.
WH insiders aren’t talking to metro people.
3. Finally, there’s lack of public ‘trust’ in the news media...from local news to newspapers....to the national sources like WaPo, CNN, NPR.
It’s something that hasn’t been seen much in US history, where you can’t dump a theme, message or brand...with ‘trust’ among the general public.
All of this in translating? You could flip Joe Biden out at the convention...bringing Newsom or Michelle Obama....keeping the same White House insiders/crew, and the message/brand would not improve.
Final note: the s**t hitting the fan? If Trump wins...the message about a week after the election is that a legal review will be done over all cabinet secretaries, VP Harris and Joe Biden in January...to bring charges as necessary. The corrupted economic numbers? Someone will end up in federal court. The CIA affairs? Someone will end up in court. The cocaine in the White House? Someone will end up in court.
They are just trying to encourage their mindless supporters by lying to them.

polls mean little when you can sit in your basement and get 81 million votes. Does anyone see what’s coming, or is our side the one in denial? and how about this for an election strategy; out vote the theft. That’s right folks, the GOP strategy is to have so many people vote that they won’t be able to manufacture enough phony ballots. They have done next to nothing to ensure voter integrity, and instead suggest enough of us participate in a rigged election in hopes of outpacing the thieves. We are a banana republic, make no mistake about it.

Why have they come down so hard on Rudy, John Eastman and Peter Navarro. Because they are legitimate, accomplished and respected their entire careers and they spoke out about the steal.

NOTHING will happen to Biden and his administration stooges. They will simply crawl back under the rocks from which they came.
However I can dream that some well intentioned Patriots will turn those rocks over and STOMP them like bugs.
Trump said the same thing in 2020, when he was behind in the polls by much bigger margins. It’s what historian John Keegan called “the mask of command”, aka never let them see you sweat. Defeatism in the inner circle always leaks out.
Donors are willing to give to a candidate with a chance of winning. They’re less inclined to donate to one without. If even the candidate doesn’t believe he can win, what are donors supposed to think? Defeatism is self-fulfilling, due to funding drying up and talented campaign staff bailing out, so you’ll never hear a losing candidate admit that things are not looking good. He needs the cash and the best people he can retain to have any chance of staying in the game.

Biden’s problem this polling cycle is that instead of leading by almost 10% all through, he is averaging a tie. Throw in a 4% bias in his favor, he is looking at a 4% loss in November. Note that Trump lost the popular vote by 2% to Hillary and still won on electoral votes.

Bottom line is that defeat in 2024 for Biden looks as inevitable as victory seemed in 2020.
Because election integrity is dead.
