The “floating pier” built by the U.S. Navy off the coast of Gaza was completed on Thursday, and connected to the shore by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops.
President Joe Biden announced the port project in his State of the Union address in March to augment land routes to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. He promised that there would be no American “boots on the ground”; the U.S. is relying on the IDF to provide onshore security for the port. Today at approximately 7:40 a.m. (Gaza time) United States Central Command personnel supporting the humanitarian mission to deliver additional humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians in need anchored a temporary pier to the beach in Gaza. As part of this effort, no U.S. troops… pic.twitter.com/048seMnkLJ

NBC reported Wednesday that the port would be completed and installed within a day. U.S. Central Command confirmed that there were no U.S. troops on the ground in Gaza, but did not indicate whether they had been in Israel.

When can we welcome our new Palestinian migrant neighbors in Des Moines?
I was going to ask how long before Hamas destroys it, or takes control of it. Either way, it likely won't be utilized for the purpose it was built. And how many politicians made money off its being built?
Too funny. The US Military did this every week in WWII. Surplus stuff.
Remind me the monetary cost again. Easier for the hamas-sholes to resupply. Durdeedur!

To help achieve that, the US has partnered with a little-known private firm, Fogbow, which is run by former military and intelligence officials.

Lord I never will forget that floating bridge.
Lord I never will forget that floating bridge.
They tell me five minutes time underwater I was hid.
I was going down and I throwed up my hands.
As I was going down I throwed up my hands.
As I was going down I throwed up my hands,
Saying, “Please Lord, take me on dry land.”
Well they carried me in the house and they laid me ‘cross the bed.
Well they carried me in the house, they laid me ‘cross the bed.
Well they carried me in the house, they laid me ‘cross the bed.
I couldn’t hear nothing but muddy water running ‘round my head.
Oh my mother often told me, “Quit playing a bum.”
My mother always told me, “Quit playing a bum.”
Lord, my mother always told me, “Son, quit playing a bum.
Go out somewhere and make a crumb.”
All the people on the bridge was screaming and crying.
Well all the people on the bridge was screaming and crying.
All the people on the bridge stood screaming and crying,
Saying, “Lord have mercy, wher’s we g’wine?”
