Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan claimed on Wednesday that Israel would "set its sights" on Turkey if it succeeded in defeating Hamas in the Gaza Strip, AFP reported.
"Do not think that Israel will stop in Gaza," Erdogan told his party lawmakers in the parliament in the capital Ankara.
"Unless it's stopped... this rogue and terrorist state will set its sights on Anatolia sooner or later," he added, referring to the large Turkish peninsula also called Asia Minor that comprises more than half of Turkey's territory.
"We will continue to stand by Hamas, which fights for the independence of its own land and which defends Anatolia," stated Erdogan.
Erdogan has increased his verbal attacks on Israel since the start of the war in Gaza on October 7.

Erdogon is a complete idiot. If Turkey attacks Israel, then yea they will strike back, but if Turkey doesn’t attack Israel, then they won’t. Erdogon is a bad actor and should be kicked out of the EU and NATO

It’s actually the opposite. Turkey is planning to go to war with Israel. The current triad is Hamas/ Hezbola, Iran and Turkey. H/H is looking very iffy. Turkey has some issues, but still on the table. A big problem is that they don’t border Israel. They have to go through other countries for the necessary land war. Iran is questioning their nuclear attack because Israel and the US shot down almost all of their previous missiles and drones.
Yes, it's a joke! Erdogan is an idiot to think Israel would want to attack. Maybe Iran, but certainly not Turkey. Israel should have been entitled to invade Jordan or Egypt, but made peace with those countries. They're at war with Gaza, the Left Bank, Syria and Lebanon (not declared but same thing when constantly getting attacked by them). Israel will never target Turkey.
