California Young Americans for Freedom has been leading the charge in telling advertisers what they are supporting when they advertise on the Tom Leykis program. Tom Leykis is a nationally syndicated talk host who is on in Los Angeles on 97.1 KLSX.
Some of the topics discussed on the program include:
- Prayer is useless. What good did it do the victims in the WTC who prayed just before they died?
- President Bush is a wimp (another word was used but was canceld by FR censor) for weeping for the victims of the attack.
- A show on how men can use the attack to get laid.
- How are we better than terrorists when we have bombed other countries.
Some advertisers that have pulled their ads over the past week include:
- The US Navy
- Nissan of Puente Hills
- Jaguar of Thousand Oaks
- Fairplex in Pomona
- Southern California Edison
- Promise Keepers
While we have achieved this success WE NEED ONE FINAL PUSH FOR THE ADVERTISERS THAT ARE SITTING ON THE FENCE. The ones that are sitting on the fence include:
Dr. Glen Kasech for Lasik Eye Surgery 310-575-0115
Knotts Berry Farm 714-220-5115
Leuxs of Beverly Hills 310-274-5200
United California Bank Madelyn Sell 213-896-7971
These comments are cruel and insensitive to those who have suffered as a result of the attack. The Leykis show and KLSX have been telling advertisers that he didn't say those things or that his comments were taken out of context. However, they won't release any tapes or transcripts of the program. We need to tell the advertisers to request a tape of the show so that they can hear for themselves what their sponsorships are supporting.

Prayer is useless. What good did it do the victims in the WTC who prayed just before they died?Maybe it saved their souls? Ah, but to the likes of Leykis, there is no such thing as a soul. Won't he be surprised.

Tom Leykis is a "shock-jock" along the lines of Howard Stern. I am so tired of ban this and ban that, and let's get the sponsors to drop him or her. The same people who advocate this are the ones who screamed when Dr. Laura Schlessinger's show was a target. If you want to make an impact, turn the dial on your radio or T.V. set. The media is all about ratings and ratings bring advertisers. I have heard Leykis himself say that he has as many listeners tune in that hate him as those that like him, and that he dosen't care because ratings are ratings.

Tom Leykis used to do a show in Boston back in the mid-1990s on WRKO. He quickly wore out his welcome. A few months after he started, he was arrested for getting drunk and beating his wife (his fourth wife) at the WRKO Christmas party. I don't even think this guy is a real liberal either. I doubt he believes 20% of what he spouts. He's just trying to position himself as an "anti-Rush Limbaugh" and had dreams of knocking Rush off the talk-show host throne. Obviously those dreams are by the boards now. Leykis is as phoney as a $3 bill and a gross opportunist. He'll say anything, no matter how outrageous, if it means getting ratings or attention..

Tom Lyekis is a pig. He claims that everything he says is a joke, but it isn't. He is lower than a snake's belly.

Leykis is a jerk. Isn't he the same guy that openly admits to being responsible for 30 abortions?

I agree that we can go a little too far with this type of thing, but as people like Leykis and Bill Maher have the right to free speech, so companies also have the right to choose where they spend their advertising dollars, and we have the right to lobby those companies. It's a two-edged sword.

Promisekeepers pulled their ads? I'm surprised they ever chose to do business in support of Tom Leykis.

This is not "breaking news", this is an editorial or a press release. Please mark accordingly in the future.

I used to hear Tom Leykis when I lived more in the LA area. He is a despicable human being, and I'm embarrassed to share his gender. His idea of being a responsible man is paying for the abortion. Very lively, articulate, energetic talk-show host; very scummy individual.

Big deal. It's a free country. Let the leftist spout his stuff. Everybody knows how successful left-wing radio has been.
