Guns and Terror

I recently wrote a letter to the New York Newsday, a very liberal leaning paper and much to my surprise printed it in its full and unedited form. I hope you all agree with its content and also hope it's a minor win for our "Freedom of Speech," esspecially our pro gun establishment.

"GUNS and TERROR"

I find it sickening that before the horrible events of Sept. 11th, the previous administration, along with the liberal establishment, tried very hard to link crime and thousands of deaths each year to the ownership of hand guns. They even ran commercials that propagandized false statistics and played on people's emotions to sway a very naive public into believing this was our major safety concern.

Sept. 11th, should have changed that forever. Sadly, one gun on each of the planes in the right hands of someone qualified to use it could have saved thousands of lives. Even now, people are wary of pilots being issued guns to protect the cockpit, plane and its passengers. What is wrong with logical strategic antiterrorist implementation?

Now, our nation has been brought to its knees without one shot ever being fired. I hope the American public comes to its senses in the aftermath of this sobering crisis and focuses on what really is a threat to our safety in a world filled with warped, twisted minds ready and willing to die because their "God" wants them to create mayhem.

The unthinkable happened on Sept.11th. We now must prepare ourselves in an almost unthinkable way to protect us from the second and third installments of a sick twisted group of radicals who inhabit this world.

What will it take for America to wake up?
I think that all Americans should watch the movie "Uprising" on NBC Sunday night....

Good job!

I always liked that paper (as long as I stuck to the sports, comics, and classifieds, the rest could go!).

Nice article. I would say that the flood of concealed firearms licenses being issued around the country is an indication of how many folks are thinking that self protection is a basic right and that we can't always count on the government to protect us from everything. While a CWP may not have stopped the terrorists, it can stop alot of problems without even firing a shot, as proven by many of the Armed Citizen articles. I can also say that both firearms and ammunitions sales are up as well, so I think that the homeland is arming itself. That should change the minds of the anti-gun politicians.

For all who do decide to purchase a firearm, I suggest taking a safety course, getting some range time in so you know how to use your firearm of choice, and consider some form of locking device or safe/box for storage of the firearm separate from extra ammo.
