Robert Reich's Bid For Mass. Governor May Fold Today
The National Journal and The Boston Herald ^ | February 2, 2002 12:35 EST | The Hotline's 'Weekend Scoop' Political Tip Sheet Staff

Posted on 02/02/2002 8:49:29 AM PST by umbra

Democrat Governor hopefuls Thomas Birmingham and Treas. Shannon O'Brien 'will flex their grassroots political muscle' in today's local Mass. Democrat caucuses.

50 thousand activists will select 'more than' 3,900 delegates for the June 2002 nominating convention.

Those delegates along with the 1,147 elected and party officials will 'determine who among the five candidates' will make it to the 9/02 primary ballot.

Birminghan and O'Brien 'are expected to dominate,' while ex-DNC chair Steve Grossman, ex-state Senator Warren Tolman and ex-Labor Secretary Robert Reich 'scramble to clear' the 15% threshold to make the ballot.

One or two of the candidates 'may fold their campaigns' after a poor showing, with both Tolman and Reich 'at risk.'

I swear to you that these people knew they had no chance. They were just trying to forestall any investigations, by being candidates so that Justice would avoid the "politicization" charge. Investigations apparently will proceed through the Enron opening. Ha!

it occured to me if Reich and Ross Perot were ,say president and vice president, and on policy both were to agree....a high five would be impossible .....it would be more like a low 2 1/2....LMAO

Wow, that didn't take long at all.

Can anyone here who is savvy about MA politics handicap the race? How likely is it that Swift will keep her job?

These people actually thought there was political life after Clinton? He used them and there is nothing left, nobody wants them.

Noticed that X42 was in Chicago to raise money (what else?) for R. Emmanuel. Keeping to his imitating ways, x42 read to some children, then said that Emmanuel had helped him to become a better president than he might have been. It hurts to think that he might even have been worse.
