ST. PETERSBURG -- A man beheaded his rival during an early morning fight Monday and then placed the severed head on the hood of a car for neighbors to see, police said.

Officers came upon the scene as the man was trying to arrange a mirror in front of the decapitated head. Police said the suspect, Dennis George Roache, 34, has a history of mental illness.

One officer at the scene said this was the most gruesome thing he'd seen in a really long time...

I would hate to work in his district. Really long time? What has he seen more gruesome than this?

Imprison the man alongside of the terrorists we're detaining in Cuba. Let them see a "real" American!

He was adjusting the mirror so the head, if it were alive, could see itself

And the result was?

Police said he'd bought the machete Sunday at a Pinellas Park flea market.

I know, don't tell me, we "gotta close the flea market-machete loophole."!

Of course.... no one needs a knife blade longer than 4"... and machetes are "military weapons"--I mean, they're issued to Marines, even.

Thank goodness there is a Brady Bill--otherwise this loony might have [gasp] shot this poor man, instead of just decapitating him.

He is one honest man; he did it and did not attempt to hide. Between this roach and condit, whom do you invite to dinner?

I think we should pardon him, give him a bigger knife, and send him to Iraq.

The woman told police Roache was wielding a 2½-foot machete. Police said he'd bought the machete Sunday at a Pinellas Park flea market.

Those damned unregulated knife shows! We need a three day waiting period and a criminal background check before people can buy knives at one of those shady knife shows!
