This is totally disgusting! I wish Brown would file suit against Stanford for "profiling" and discrimination. I'd love to see our side turn the tables on the left.

Isn't rejecting an applicant based on religious views a federal crime? I think Coach Brown might have a case here.

"[His religion] was definitely something that had to be considered. We're a very diverse community with a diverse alumni. Anything that would stand out that much is something that has to be looked at... It's usually hard to contradict oneself in one breath, but this fellow manages without effort.

The newspaper quoted Alan Glenn, Stanford's assistant athletic director of human resources: "[His religion] was definitely something that had to be considered. We're a very diverse community with a diverse alumni. Anything that would stand out that much is something that has to be looked at.... It was one of many variables that was considered."
This doesn't sound like a very diverse comment. I guess diversity ends where Christianity begins.

This special issue of WORLD magazine focuses on the growing disdain many sophisticates in American culture hold for evangelical Christians. The big media in our society, along with higher academia, have habitually over the last six months compared conservative Christians to the radical Taliban. "When you've seen one fundamentalist," these folks tend to say, "you've seen them all."Yeah, there's been a real rash of Christians driving jetliners into skyscrapers lately, and you know how hung up on that darn US constitution those Talibaners can be. I can see why the media gets the two groups confused. < forehead slap > I also liked how they were afraid how he might "stick out" on their supposedly "diverse" campus among all the orange and purple spiked haircuts.

Well, what if he was a minority and he started rumors that he didn't get the job because of that? I don't think this forum would be too sympathetic.
