"We are still tight on supply," he said, noting that the surplus margin this summer is expected to be in the range of 2,000 megawatts, roughly the output of two nuclear plants.

A whole 2000 megawatts of surplus capacity? I've seen a warm day in CA eat that much capacity in 30 minutes. The very mild weather over the past few months has given CA a break from the crisis of limited supply. CA anticipates a peak load around 29000 MW today with 35000 available. I've observed hot summer days with the load as high as 54,000 MW. That's a 20000 MW deficit. It could be an interesting summer.
