FAIRFIELD, CA - - Mar. 19, 1999 - -Gensa Corporation has been awarded an information technology (IT) services contract by Logicon Inc., a Northrop Grumman company. Gensa will to support the General Services Administration’s (GSA) Federal Technology Service for the Pacific Rim Region.

The initial contract is for two years with eight one-year options.

The multiple award indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract is under the Federal Information Systems Support program known as Generation VII Applications n’ Support for Widely-diverse EndUser Requirements (ANSWER). The ANSWER mission is to provide flexible, responsive, easy-to-use and cost-effective IT services for Federal agencies.

Gensa will perform requirements and design research, analysis and definition, system development, software maintenance, and facilities management support services for business, scientific and engineering applications.

"Gensa was selected because of our Oracle and Microsoft expertise. Gensa has a full complement of IT services to offer and this award will enable us to apply all of our expertise," said Bob Lutolf, Gensa Corporation President.

Although the contract is worldwide in scope, the initial focus of the work is expected to be in the GSA’s Pacific Rim Region. Headquartered in San Francisco, the region includes the states of California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii as well as Guam, the Pacific Trust Territories, American Samoa and U.S. installations in the Far East.

Gensa Corporation, headquartered in Fairfield, CA is experienced in developing systems based on Oracle and Microsoft technology. Areas of expertise include Intranet Development; integrating the internet with the enterprise; network design, development, installation and maintenance as well as database system development.

Gensa is an Oracle Business Alliance Partner, a Microsoft Solution Provider, a Compaq Reseller and a 3Com Networking Partner.

What Gov. Davis seems to be looking for?

ID/IQ stands for "indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity". Basically, their contract is an "empty bag" - - work may or may not come later. I don't know why they released this press release. The ANSWER contract is a multiple award schedule under GSA and many firms (including mine) have one. Task orders are released and are usually competed among those that hold the ANSWER contract. Basically, a company has to go out and bring in their own work -- sort of a "you eat what you kill" mentality.

The government reserves the right to award a task without competing, or they may require competition among the contract holders. Depends on the type of work.

Thank you. Does the GENSA moving/expanding offices to Sacramento(another 'Press Release') indicate that they are having 'great success'/making a 'killing' in the California bureaucracy?

I read it that GENSA just wants to be closer to where the money is handed over by the Kali GSA. They don't trust the mailman, the UPS man or the Fed Gal. When you read their front page it makes you fell those Tax $'s just flying away!

There's always a press release on a contract award. Well, at least those over $2.00. And of course contract extensions.

It's for stockholders, corporate morale, a VP of Sales getting his name in the trade press, and probably more. Usually quite harmless.

You may be right, Grampa Dave. Looks like the guy and his wife love dogs.

Can't fault a good man for trying to run a successful business.(As long as it's on the 'up and up', I got no problems).

Appears a little suspicious though, when the guy loves dogs and we got a 'dog' for a governor. {;~)

That's the problem where we have to be careful is not throwing the good companies out with the bath water, trash and the Whoreacles and what looks like the Con job company.

Something rings a bell about a computer service company recently opening up an office in Sac to be close to the business and so the staff could enjoy the benefits that Sacramento offers to outdoors folks.

As soon as I get a report about Shad up in the American River, I should move up with these guys!

When we lived in Sac, I would come home and the boys would have our river boat ready if salmon were running, our rods and waders ready if the shad or other fish were running. My wife would have a dinner packed for us. As soon as I changed clothes we would head out until the sun set.

If the boys were in the swimming pool, I knew that there was no fishing.
