Now the picture is getting clearer. Looks like blackmail. You give us all your white house notes, we'll drop the 9-11 issues.

Whoa...Is Liberman changing the subject..I thought all dems were in "Let's find out what the President knew before 9/11" mode. Either he missed the meeting or maybe it is not the hot button they thought it was going to be. Especially since today's news of what clinton knew. BTW, I don't remember any warnings to the American people in '95 or '99 in regards to airplanes being used as bombs...Guess I missed that meeting....

Sen. Joseph Lieberman said Friday he'll try to subpoena the White House for information on officials' contacts with Enron unless the administration promises to provide the material by the end of the month.

Why don't they just give him the material, pat him on the head and send him on his merry way, with the statement that this is too trivial for us to worry about while we have a war to fight. If you want to waste time on it Joe, have at it.

The good Senator just wants to be sure people keep him in mind - hear his name on a regular basis. More blah, blah, means nothing.

Do you suppose this guy ever does anything for his constituents? Anything at all?

When did Lieberman know the democrats were going to take over the Senate because of Jeffords' defection?

When did Lieberman know senate "majority" Democrats would be harrying the White House about Enron (which company Bush didn't help) and about 9/11 (which it was obvious Bush didn't know about--from the look on his face).

Any analysis of the fall of Enron that fails to consider the circumstances surrounding its rise to prominence in the energy industry is shallow at best and intellectually fraudulent at worst. Enron's rise to the "big time" was facilitated by a series of favorable actions by the Clinton Administration (one published report said Clinton and Company acted affirmatively on 18 of 20 Enron requests for loans, grants and legislative initiatives) and the hope that the Kyoto Treaty would be enacted giving them a monopoly in a "new energy industry". The accounting gimmicks were only an attempt to buy time until Enron got "their man" in the White House. And make no mistake about it, Al Gore was that man. Forget the Enron donations to Bush. Every serious gambler bets both sides in a horse race. Enron needed Gore. What he would not be able to produce legislatively, he would accomplish by Executive Order. Remember, "Stroke of the pen, law of the land...Kinda cool". When the election did not go Enron's way, they knew they were in trouble. Thankfully, the Bush Administration rebuffed Ken Lay's overtures. After that, Enron's officials started bailing out. They knew it was over. In short, Enron failed because the income side was based circumstances that were not sustainable and economic/environmental assumptions that were not viable. Shame of many for not realizing this. This is not to excuse those on Wall Street, government types at SEC, ect. who did not do their homework and expose the sham that was Enron. There is much blame to go around. However, any attempt exposing problems should start at the beginning.

Having lived in CT when he was just getting started in his lifetime of politics I can categorically answer that with a NO. Although I'm sure he's written a few letters of recommendation for academy-applying sons of big contributors.

I don't like Lieberman, but the WH should come clean on this. Otherwise, we are going to start seeing a repeat of the Clintoon years.

Someone somewhere today (or maybe yesterday - LOL) stated, watch them start something else. They usually have 3 issues within a couple days. Sounds like that poster was on to something.
