Most of the trees in the Black Hills are Ponderosa pine. The whole of the Black Hills are tinder dry with a dry lightining storm on for tonight. therw will be another fire I fear

I read that there is an "Echo Canyon" somewhere in the area and that "Deadwood" is so named because the place was sticks from a prior fire when people first came there.  There definitely is an echo in this fire.  In the national sense, it is a picture of the economy in a Grizzly market and an assault on the gold and silver which have becoming cankered.
