SAND DIEGO, CA -- August 13, 2002 -- At approximately 8:45 AM this morning (PDT), two slices from a Thomas English Muffin entered the toaster and have yet to emerge. Onlookers, camped around the toaster on the west side of the kitchen, have been waiting impatiently, casting insults at this valiant duo.
"I cant believe its taking this long," said Mrs. Margarine. "This is an open and shut procedure that should be completed in just a few minutes."
"I guess English muffins can be just as thick as broccoli stocks," declared Berry Jelly, a sweet preserve for the past six months.
Others were not as judgmental.
"These muffins will emerge when they are ready. Im sure they want to cover every nook and cranny to make certain an even toasting is achieved," rebutted Mr. O. Marmalade.
Dont look away, or you might miss the conclusion of this unfolding drama.
Reporting from the kitchen in San Diego, Mr. Clean, KCHN-News.

Must have been an inside job!

All I know is..after many years of toasting imperfection, 2 skinny little slots..having to flatten my bagels, and cut my long pieces of sourdough in half, I finally got the toaster of my dreams.. 2 extra long, extra wide slots, I could stick a tree in that thing and it would fit and toast perfectly.

OH baby does it pop up! My only wish is that it would go DING! or something more pleasant than the clunky sound it does make.

You know what? I have stopped using butter on my English Muffins. Instead, I retrieve the toasted English muffins from my toaster and I drizzle pure extra virgin olive oil onto the bagels. I also throw on a little bit of chopped garlic and basil - when it is available.
And English muffins are not just for breakfast anymore - Hell no! Sometimes I have them as a late night snack with a glass of Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout. Tadcaster. The "celebrated" oatmeal stout from the Tadcaster Brewery in N. Yorks, England.
English muffins and English Oatmeal Stout. With olive oil from Greece. I hope I don't die soon so I can have lots more.
